Information
Plant caulescent, forming a robust shrub. Stem and branches erect, to 1 m high. Racemes with flowers varying in colour from red to orange, creamy-yellow or often bicoloured with buds and young flowers red becoming yellow at maturity, 10–15 cm long, 7–8 cm in diameter; pedicels 6–7 mm long. Perianths widening ± obviously towards the mouth (clavate) to 9–10 mm in diameter; stamens and stigma exserted c. 10 mm.
Habitat
On bare granite outcrops in cracks and hollows, and amongst boulders, in exposed situations with grass tussocks
Range
Known only from Nyanga Distr. of Zimbabwe
Altitude range
1700–2200 m.

Notes
A. cameronii is known to form hybrids with other species with which it occurs, for example with A. christianii (Zimbabwe, Chibakwe R., fl. v.1955, Leach 122 (SRGH)), and with A. greatheadii (Zimbabwe, near Domboshawa, fl. 21.vii.1958, Leach 618 (K; SRGH)).
