Information
Robust epiphytic herb, usually erect, forming large clumps.Stem woody, up to c. 50 cm long.Roots numerous, long, 5–9 mm in diameter, branched.Leaves usually in 4–8 pairs, 15–25 × 1.5–3.5 cm, ligulate, unequally and obtusely 2-lobed at apex, fleshy, conduplicate.Inflorescence (floral axis) arising in leaf axils, 3–20 cm long, densely several-flowered, usually unbranched.Pedicel and ovary c. 10 mm long; bracts 2–4 mm long.Flowers fleshy, c. 2 cm in diameter, rather cup-shaped, with a strong, sweet scent.Sepals and petals creamy-yellow blotched with red-brown; lip white with red-brown spots.Sepals 9–14 × 5–7 mm, ovate or obovate, rounded at apex, slightly concave.Petals 8–12 × 3–4 mm, spathulate.Lip 8–12 × 3–4 mm, fleshy, 3-lobed; side lobes erect; mid-lobe ovate, papillose; disk with a small, papillose basal keel.Spur short and saccate.Column 1.5–3.5 mm long, 3 mm wide.
