Young lateral shoots and/or lead shoots glabrous or minutely scaberulous.
Habitat
Submontane woodland usually on rocky slopes, and montane grassland often in marshy ground beside streams, also on evergreen rainforest floor, in the understorey and on the margins and in clearings, and in dense riverine forest, also in high rainfall miombo usually on hillsides, and in moist dambos and grasslands often appearing after an annual burn
