Hermbstaedtia odorata var. albi-rosea Suesseng. [family AMARANTHACEAE], in Mitt. Bot. Staatss. München 1: 192 (1953) nom. provis. No type cited, merely a remark that all white or pink-flowered forms belong here.
Information
Flowers usually white or pink-tinged, the tepals rather rarely with more than 1 pair of lateral nerves (which may however be branched) attaining well above the middle, though often with shorter lateral nerves. Leaves variable in form but usually linear to linear-oblanceolate.
Habitat
In grassland, savanna, riverine vegetation, scrub mopane etc. and as a weed of roadsides and cultivation; in loose red sand, gritty loam, gravel (hard limestone) and on serpentine and basalt.
