This species is very similar to B. glomerata (Mattf.) C. Jeffrey, but differs from it in the following features: Leaves narrowly oblong-elliptic, densely grey-felted on the lower surface; the hairs of the leaf lower surface short-stalked T-shaped consisting of a 1–2-celled stalk bearing an elongate transverse terminal cell with long-tapering matted arms, the indumentum ± obscuring the lax prominent venation. Phyllaries linear-lanceolate, subequal or the outer phyllaries 5–7 mm. long, mostly more than half as long as the involucre, their apices finely tapering, subulate.
