Erlangea vernonioides Muschl. [family COMPOSITAE], in Engl., Bot. Jahrb. 46: 62 (1911) non V. vernonioides (A. Gray) Bacigal (1931). Type as above.
Information
Very similar to V. cinerea but its outer pappus is reduced to a low fringe-like rim consisting of short, distinct or ± confluent, oblong, rounded or subtruncate scales 0.1–0.2 mm. long. It is also a somewhat more slender and delicate herb with a laxer synflorescence of smaller capitula.
Habitat
Moist ground beside streams or water, in grassland or woodland, also as a weed of cultivation and disturbed ground
