Notes
One fruiting specimen from Xai-Xai (de Koning 7801) has the leaves narrower than typical for this species. A closely related species (P. faulkneri Bridson) from Tanzania and Kenya has juvenile leaves which are small, resembling those of Buxus sempervirens L., and quite unlike the adult leaves. It is possible that this phenomenon may also occur in P. locuples, but field observations and correlated specimens are still required. One gathering from Mozambique, Inhaca Island (Mauve & Verdoorn 86 (PRE)) and several sheets from KwaZulu-Natal could well represent juvenile foliage forms of this species.
