Erect, branching herb 0.3–0.6 m. tall; stems striate, glandular-pubescent, sometimes purplish. Leaves 3–7-foliolate; leaflets 0.5–2.5 x 0.25–0.8 cm., oblong-lanceolate, narrowly oblanceolate or oblanceolate, acute or rather blunt and often mucronate at the apex, cuneate at the base, somewhat glaucous and glandular-pubescent on both sides, merging upwards into the subsessile or sessile, usually 3-foliolate bracts; petiole up to 6 cm. long. Inflorescence of rather lax terminal racemes; pedicels up to 1.8 cm. long, glandular-pubescent. Sepals 4–6.5 mm. long, narrowly lanceolate, glandular-pubescent outside, acuminate at the apex. Petals c. 1.5 x 0.5–0.7 cm., rose-pink or purplish, yellow towards the base, narrowly obovate, rounded at the apex, with a short claw less than 1/4 the length of the lamina. Stamens 8–12; filaments slender, the lower four longer than the remainder and with longer anthers, the longer about the same length as the petals, glabrous; anther-thecae c. 2 mm. long, linear-oblong. Ovary linear, glandular-pubescent, on a very short, glandular-pubescent gynophore c. 1 mm. long; style very short; stigma subcapitate. Capsule c. 8 x 0.4 cm., on a glandular-pubescent gynophore c. 0.8 cm. long; valves glandular-pubescent, with 8–9 longitudinal anastomosing nerves; persistent style c. 2.5 mm. long, glabrous. Seeds c. 2.0 mm. in diam., dark brown, transversely striate.
