Tree up to 30 m. tall. Young branches flexuous, green, compressed, later pale brown, cylindric. Leaf-lamina 7–20 × 4–12 cm., subcoriaceous, oblong or ovate-oblong, subacute at the apex, obtuse at the base, glabrous, light green, somewhat shining above; lateral nerves in 4–8 pairs, prominulous below, arcuate-ascendent; veins loosely reticulate, slightly raised below; petiole 1–3 cm. long, canaliculate. Inflorescence a short cyme or fascicle, axillary or extra-axillary, multiflorous. Flowers yellowish-green, 3–5 mm. long, subcylindric; pedicels up to 4 mm. long. Calyx-tube short, adnate to the ovary; lobes scarious, soon deciduous, shorter than the disk. Petals 3–5 × 1–1·5 mm., glabrous outside, bearded towards the apex within, valvate, linear-oblong, apiculate inside at the apex, slightly recurved. Stamens up to 3·5 mm. long. Ovary semi-inferior. Disk attached to the top of the ovary in a cone 1–2 mm. long, longitudinally ridged. Fruit up to 2·5 cm. long, obconic, with a circular depression at the apex around the 1–2 mm. long persistent base of the style.
