Information
Terrestrial; rhizome erect or shortly creeping, to 5 mm diameter, with dark brown narrowly triangular ?entire acute rhizome scales to 1.5 mm long, with paler margins. Fronds tufted, to 30 cm long, proliferous in centre of terminal pinna. Stipe 9–25 cm long, with scattered scales similar to those of rhizome. Lamina ovate in outline, 8–13x7–10 cm, 1-pinnate, the lower pinnae hardly or not decrescent, the terminal pinna very similar to the lateral ones and the same size. Pinnae 2–3 pairs, (sub-)opposite, to 6x2 cm, shortly petiolate, narrowly ovate, slightly asymmetric with the acroscopic base parallel to the rachis, basiscopic base more cuneate, margin crenate, glabrous or nearly so. Rachis slightly winged, with some scattered scales. Sori many on veins, linear, to 10 mm long; indusium linear, entire, to 0.7 mm wide, membranous. Fig. 2: 1–2, p. 14.

Notes
CONSERVATION Data deficient, due to the uncertainty in taxonomy. The correct name of this plant is uncertain. The position of the gemma in the centre of terminal pinna is constant and unique for EA. Two specimens seem to belong here, but lack the gemmae so key out to A. inaequilaterale: Uganda, U 2, Kigezi District: Bwindi National Park, Feb. 1995, Poulsen et al. 729! and Tanzania, T 3, Lushoto District: Shengena Forest Reserve, Gonja, Feb. 1988, Kisena 359!
