Notes
Specimens from S and W Tanzania generally have larger leaves which are usually entire, and larger corollas. But there are too many intermediates with the material from Kenya and N Tanzania to contemplate separating out two subspecies. Some of the S Tanzanian collections also lack the long orange setose hairs normally so characteristic for T. gregorii. But there are transitional collections with orange hairs on the peduncles but not on the stems and leaves and vice versa. I am treating this form (T. exasperata, s. str.) as no more than a local variant.
