Information
Tufted perennial, the basal sheaths silky pubescent; culms 60–150 cm. high. Leaf-blades linear, 7–50 cm. long, 2–10 mm. wide, with cartilaginous margins. Inflorescence 10–45 cm. long, bearing appressed racemes 2–7 cm. long, these sessile or the lower stalked and sometimes compound; pedicels strongly flattened. Spikelet 4.5–6.5 mm. long; lower glume 0.3–0.7 mm. long, broadly obtuse; upper lemma obtuse. Fig. 137.
