Notes
The material is not uniform. The largest dimensions in the above description are taken from Drummond & Hemsley 1652 (S. Uluguru Forest Reserve, edge of Lukwangule Plateau, 17 Mar. 1953). This has considerably larger leaves, much longer branched inflorescences with elongated secondary peduncles and wider corolla-tubes, but it seems unlikely to be more than a minor variant despite the rather striking differences. In typical plants the inflorescence is about 4 cm. long, the branches attaining 1.5 cm., the leaf-blades 5–6 cm. wide and the corolla-tube about 4 mm. wide, whereas the corresponding measurements for Drummond & Hemsley 1652 are 10 cm., 6 cm., 9 cm. and 8 mm.
