Information
Creeping herb with stems 10–40 cm. long, at first adpressed hairy, later glabrescent, rooting at the nodes. Leaves congested towards the apices of the stems; blades rounded, elliptic-ovate or elliptic-oblong, 3.5–6 cm. long, 1.9–4 cm. wide, acute or subacute to ± obtuse or rounded at the apex, shallowly narrowly cordate or rarely cuneate at the base, glabrous above except for hairy midnerve or pubescent to hairy all over upper surface, pubescent or hairy beneath; petiole 0.2–2(–3.5) cm. long, hairy; stipules membranous, green, ovate or triangular, 3–7.5(–10) mm. long, 2–3.5 mm. wide, shortly bifid at the apex, with ciliate margins. Flowers probably showing reduced heterostyly, ± 12 in capitate inflorescences ± 1–1.5 cm. in diameter; peduncle 0–5 mm. long; bract cupuliform, forming an involucre 0.9–1.1 cm. long, undulate, erose or lobed, the lobes 5 mm. long, 1.5 mm. wide, pubescent, the margins ciliate. Calyx ± 7 mm. long, the tubular part 5–6 mm. long; lobes ± 1 mm. long, recurved, margins ciliate. Corolla white; tube funnel-shaped, 7–8 mm. long; lobes ovate, 1.5 mm. long, 0.6 mm. wide. Anthers sessile at the top of the tube. Stigma 2-lobed. Berries orange; pyrenes yellow-brown, subglobose, 3 mm. long, 2.6 mm. wide, 2.2 mm. thick, with a narrow deep slit on the ventral side. Seeds yellow-brown, subglobose, 2.5 mm. long, 2.2 mm. wide, with 1 deep U-shaped hilar groove.
