Notes
The large, squarish, densely rusty brown pubescent fruits are very distinctive; the leaves themselves are also easily recognisable, usually being large, having a long acuminate apex and a slightly cordate base. This plant often forms thickets along the coastal fringe just above the high-water mark. The Aldabran endemic G. salicif o lia is very close to this species; it differs by its narrower more elliptic leaves.
