Altitude range
1400–2100 m
Distribution
KENYA Meru District NE Mt Kenya, Ithanguni, Kirui Cone, 28 Feb. 1970, Faden & Evans 70/80!;KENYA Teita District Mt Kasigau, pipeline route from Rukanga, 6 Feb. 1971, Faden et al. 71/174!
Notes
There is some confusion about this hybrid. Faden says known only from Kirui Cone but states sp. A and B of Johns e.g. Napper 719, Snowden 592 (sphalm 719), Faden et al. 69/536 from Kimakia Forest, Limuru and locality unknown respectively, are this hybrid. Schelpe has determined material from N Malawi, Nyika plateau as this hybrid but it is not mentioned in F.Z. With the determination of species so highly unsatisfactory it is clear that the attribution of hybrids is often guesswork and virtually meaningless without clear evidence.
