Information
Twigs tomentose with somewhat fulvous stellate and shortly dendritic hairs, soon glabrescent. Leaves opposite and clustered on short shoots, sessile or nearly so, glaucous, subcircular, 1.5–5 cm. long, 1.5–4 cm. wide, cordate at the base, early glabrescent, with 4–5 pairs of lateral nerves. Heads terminal on a short shoot of normally 1 pair of leaves, sometimes also axillary, (2–)4-flowered; peduncle 1.5–2 cm. long, glabrous; bract ovate, slightly acuminate at the apex, concave, 4–5 mm. long, subglabrous apart from margins. Receptacle 1.5 mm. long, silky villous; calyx 3–4 mm. long, subglabrous except for a fringe of small brown hairs. Corolla 3.5–4 cm. long, orange, with the lobes and sometimes the basal part of tube green, silky villous in bud but glabrescent on basal swelling and to varying degrees on the lobes; basal swelling 5–7 mm. long; constriction 3–4 mm. long; distal part of tube ± 5 mm. long. Berry not seen.
