Notes
Various authors have attributed L. mildbraedii to W. Africa. Congo and Sudan, apparently on the basis of misdetermined specimens of L. mannii Hook. f.; cf. N. Hallé in Adansonia, n.s., 2: 129–133 (1962). The Mgaza collection cited above appears to be correctly assigned although the plant is described as a “semi shrub up to 4 ft. tall”. It represents a considerable extension of the previously known distribution. The wood is durable and has a variety of local uses.
