Range
A genus of about a score of species in S. America one of which, the groundnut, is widely cultivated throughout the warmer parts of the world.
Notes
A number of species of this genus have been cultivated experimentally in East Africa and Prof. A. Krapovickas has kindly identified material sent to him. This is listed here since various breeding programmes have been carried out in East Africa with these cultivated plants, the naming of which was previously uncertain. The species are not at all well characterized and are difficult to name.
