Information
Tree 20–25 m. high, with an open crown; branchlets shortly hairy, later glabrescent (as are the petioles and leaf-rhachides). Rhachis of leaf (together with petiole) 3–6 cm. long; leaflets alternate to subopposite or opposite, 16–26, oblong, lanceolate, ovate-oblong or ovate-lanceolate, 1–1.5 cm. long, 4–6 mm. wide, obtuse and often slightly emarginate at apex, glabrous and reticulate on both surfaces. Inflorescences of axillary, dense-flowered racemes; axis 3–4 cm. long, densely velvety-hairy; pedicels (together with receptacle) up to 7 mm. long in young fruit; flowers red. Sepals ±1.2 cm. long. Petals ± 2 cm. long. Ovary glabrous; stipe villous. Pods (not quite mature) elliptic-suborbicular or obliquely and broadly obovate, 3.3–4.5 cm. long, 2.5–2.8 cm. wide.
