Notes
Only one sheet (the type) has been seen from Madagascar and it differs from nearly all East African material in its narrowly ovate and less cordate leaves but it can be matched against a few sheets. Further knowledge of the variation of the species in Madagascar is needed and may show that it should be separated. Some of the Bwamba specimens approach S. laxiflora. Ipomoea hierniana Rendle probably also belongs here.
