Notes
This bramble differs from the closely allied R. apetalus by its dense, short panicle, and its red fruit (which are however recorded as black when fully ripe in Chandler 1768). The pedicels are certainly short, and, as stated by Engler, apparently shorter than those of R. apetalus, but field studies are needed to decide whether it should be regarded as specifically distinct. The only turion-leaf seen has broadly ovate to ovate-elliptic, 2-jugate leaflets.
