Information
Annual up to 0.2 m. high. Stem brown, woody below, strigose. Leaves bunched terminally, elliptic-oblanceolate, 1.5–4 x 0.5–1 cm., longly hirsute, cuneate below; margin serrate above; apex acute; petiole (1–) 2–5 mm. long. Flowers solitary, ± 4.5 mm. long, concealed in the axils of bracts; pedicel short, longly hirsute; bracteoles absent. Calyx ± 2 mm. long, lobes oblong, rounded apically, with 1–3 sub-apical hairlike appendages. Petals yellow, ± 4.25 mm. long. Ovary ± narrowly ovoid, subglabrous. Fruiting peduncles longly accrescent and recurving, ascending-hirsute; capsule becoming inverted, rotund, 2–2.5 x 1.5 mm., margins of loculi puberulous. Seeds ± 1–1.5 mm. long, several, curved. Aril rotund, ± 1 mm. long, margin entire. Fig. 3, p. 8.
