Information
A small sparingly and patently branched tree 10–15 ft. high; head lax; branches slender, somewhat flexuous, rusty-pubescent. Leaves oblong or oblanceolate, shortly acuminate, conspicuously mucronate, subcuneate at the base, 2 1/2–6 1/2 in. long, 1–2 in. broad, papery, distinctly reticulate on both surfaces; lateral nerves 8–9 on each side, looped, conspicuous on both sides; veins prominent below, somewhat close; petiole stout, about 3 lin. long, clothed with a few long brown hairs; stipules lanceolate, acute, 3–4 lin. long, densely pubescent. Male infloresence about 1 in. long, rather dense-flowered. Flowers sessile. Sepals ovate, subacute, 1/2 lin. long and broad, setulose-pubescent in the upper half outside. Petals absent. Stamens 5; filaments 3/4 lin. long, glabrous. Diskglands large, setose, fleshy. Rudimentary ovary obconic, fleshy, subentire, nearly glabrous. Female racemes elongated, lax-flowered. Ovary pubescent; styles bipartite, recurved. Capsule adpressed-pubescent.
