Information
Tree, up to 6 m tall, with a large flattened crown; bark yellowish, flaking; young branchlets glabrous or pubescent at first and soon glabrescent. Prickles solitary or rarely in threes, hooked downwards, up to 5 mm long. Leaves: petiole eglandular; pinnae 1–3 pairs, the rhachis with a ± round raised gland c. 0.5–0.6 mm in diam. between the pinnae of the lowermost and sometimes also the topmost pair; leaflets c. 7–14 pairs, 4–8 x 1–2 mm, sparsely pubescent to glabrous above, sparsely to densely pubescent beneath. Flowers creamy white, in 25–35 mm long spikes with glabrous axis. Calyx 2–3 mm long, reddish. Corolla 3.5–4 mm long. Pods straight, 40–60 x 15–20 mm, densely pubescent with appressed hairs, ± purplish brown, transversely veined, rounded at the apex. Seeds subcircular, 12–13 mm in diam.; areole c. 10 x 6 mm.
