Information
Shrub to 1 m or so, glabrous; branchlets slightly compressed, then slightly 4-angular. Leaves opposite to alternate; petiole 0–2 mm long; blade dull green to yellow-green, fleshy, ovate to ovate-elliptic or obovate, obtuse or rounded at apex, cuneate to attenuate to slightly cordate at base, 3–8 × 2–6 cm, 3–5(–7)-nerved from a little above base. Umbels 1–several, mostly at older nodes, 2–4-flowered; peduncle 1–2 mm long; pedicels 1 mm long; bract cupular with a small ovate-triangular limb, 1–2.5 mm long. Receptacle 1.5 mm long; calyx tubular, 2–2.5 mm long. Corolla 1.8–3.3 cm long, pink, lobes green with upper two-thirds red, or sometimes all cream or greenish cream; apical swelling of bud slightly clavate; basal swelling 0; lobes erect, 6–11 mm long, keeled, upper two-thirds linear-oblanceolate, apiculate, slightly hardened inside. Filaments yellow-green or cream, inflexed, slightly corrugated, last 1.5–2 mm thinner and smooth; anther 2–3.5 mm. Style slender, minutely papillate opposite upper part of corolla-tube, green above; stigma red. Berry pink to red, obovoid-ellipsoid, 7–8 × 4–5 mm, with persistent calyx.
