Description
By the return of next ship, Mathews hopes to be in a position to send Hooker a small collection of mosses, and perchance some ferns, as he is going to take a trip next spring to Trout Lake. It will be a rather novel trip as it will be 1000 miles in a birch bark canoe. In this district the only specimen he has seen is Equisetum arvense. If he is not encroaching too much on Hooker's valuable time any hints would be much appreciated; in a humble way he is anxious to do what he can. Mathews asks Hooker to give his kind regards to his son and regrets that he did not have time to see him before he left England. Mathews signs himself as Medical Officer, York Factory District, Hudson's Bay. Page 1 of 2.
