Letter comprises resolutions from the minutes of the Jamaica Society of which Hill is honorary secretary. The Society has resolved to make Sir William Jackson Hooker an honorary member by the unanimous vote of it members. The Society hope Hooker will do them the honour of permitting his name to be enrolled as the first of their honorary members. Leonard Rowe Valpy is requested to wait on Hooker with the Secretary's communication regarding this matter and to thank Hooker in their name for the invaluable service he has kindly offered to perform for them, in bringing to the revision and correction of their catalogue the scientific requirements and cultivated experience of so many years.
