Morris is pleased to hear that Thiselton-Dyer agrees with him regarding the issue of Jenman's unsuitability to continue as Superintendent of the Botanic gardens in British Guiana. Jenman's health has been poor, which is why he was unable to attend the Conference and cannot undertake sea voyages. Morris reports that Jenman has been taking an 'impossible line' in regards to advising the Government on agricultural questions, and encloses some of Jenman's letters for Thiselton-Dyer to view. Morris requests the letters not be taken to the Colonial Office after a disagreement with Harrison when his letters were shown and caused bad feeling amongst his colleagues. Harrison is also backing Morris relating to the Jenman issue, but feels there may be another way around him, and the possibility of a separate office has been raised. Morris does not believe a separate office will help matters. He believes letters from the Executive Council, Harrison and Davis, regarding Jenman, will help show the general opinion of competent men. Morris concludes by firmly stating that if Jenman retains his post it will be to the detriment of British Guiana, and asks what Thiselton-Dyer thinks of Carruthers if Jenman goes. Pages 1 and 4 of 8.
