Description
The memorandum concerns correspondence with W. Cradwick of Jamaica regarding diseases of cocoa. Regarding the disposal of diseased parts by adding lime, Massee considers burning over the heap of material to be sufficient. Deep burying would also be a means of securing immunity. Regarding Cradwick's letter of 8 Dec [see letter folios 290 – 292], Massee notes no disease was found on the young sucker, that the twigs of branch two were affected with the canker Diplodia cacaoicola and that the die back of branch three is unknown to him. Finally regarding Cradwick's letter of 17 June [see letter folio 285] there is no sign of living spores on the material just received. If any germination takes place the fact will be recorded.
