Duthie arrived at Seebpore [Shibpur] yesterday morning and shall have a little over a week there to work up his Kumaon plants. A collection of seeds gathered during his expedition leaves Saharanpur by this week's mail. There are a few good things amongst them and he hopes they will germinate. What he mentioned in a former letter as a Ranunculaceous plant found at 17,000 feet, turned out to be Adonis chrysocyathus. There were no flowers to be seen or he would have identified it at once. He has a Sedum he thinks will interest Hooker. He can not help thinking it is S. azureum given in the FLORA OF BRITISH INDIA as a synonoym of S. ewersii. Duthie's specimens are exactly like Royle's figure, but the flowers are bright crimson instead of blue. The fern he supposed to be Gymnosphaera andersonii is only Woodsia lanosa after all. The former he believes to be a myth and Beddome's specimen so named will be found to be W. lanossa. Page 1 of 2.
