Ford encloses a receipt for a small box of lily bulbs that he would like his correspondent to try [not attached]. He thinks it is a cultivated variety of Lilium longiflorum, but a great improvement on it in its wild condition. He grows it extensively in the Garden, both in pots and beds. Page contains notes in various other hands, one stating the name Lilium formosanum and another stating the name 'Lilium longiflorum var. formosanum Baker', in the GARDENERS' CHRONICLE, 1880.
