Griffith writes that he is sending a ‘rough drawing attempted by myself. A half finished painting by a lady and 2 or 3 photographs of a most curious plant’. The plant came from ‘the forest’ and Griffith kept it in water until the fourth day where ‘intending to have the inside photographed’ after his friend Mrs. Ross had painted it when he reports the ‘stench was something awful.
