Spikelets reddish green, arms purples, anthers and stigmas white. Sandysoil. Disturbed ground near houses. Perhaps introduced. Found later (25.10) on large granite rocks associated with Vellozia 12635 where it is presumably native. Common in one spot only. Rainfall (av. of 31 yrs) 635mm, with maxima in April and October cont. Habitat: Escarpment edge with granited, gneisses and schists exposed; white or yellowish sandy or loamy soils. Montane scrub with Cussonia, Ficus, Acacia, Dichrostachys, Combretum, Commiphora, etc. largely degraded by cultivation, fuel cutting, etc.
