Tree up to 10(25) m. tall, hemi-epiphytic and strangling or terrestrial, sometimes a shrub or a liane. Leafy twigs 6–12 mm. thick, densely white- or yellowish-puberulous to pubescent, or almost glabrous, periderm not flaking off. Leaves spirally arranged; lamina ovate to elliptic, subovate or oblong (5)9–31 x (3.5)6–20 cm., coriaceous; apex acuminate; base cordate to truncate, obtuse or subacute; margin entire; superior surface glabrous, or sparsely puberulous in the lower pan of the lamina, inferior surface sparsely to densely white (or brownish) puberulous to hirtellous or glabrous; lateral veins 10–14 pairs, the basal pair ± faintly branched, ending at the margin below the middle of the lamina; tertiary venation partly scalarifonn; petiole 3–10(13) cm. long, 2–4 mm. thick; stipules 3–10 mm. long, glabrous or puberulous to pubescent, caducous. Figs solitary (or in pairs) in the leaf axils, just below the leaves, or sometimes also on the older wood, initially enveloped by an ovoid calyptrate bud-cover up to 2.5 cm. long; peduncle up to 5 mm. long, 4–6 mm. thick; basal bracts 3–4 mm. long, persistent. Receptacle ovoid to ellipsoid, sometimes subglobose or obovoid, 3–5 x 2.5–4.5 cm. in diam. when fresh, 1–4 x 1–3 cm. in diam. when dry, puberulous to pubescent, greenish at maturity; wall 3–5 mm. thick when fresh, 1.5–3 mm. thick when dry.
