Twining perennial herb with slender thinly pubescent or glabrescent stems, sometimes rooting below. Leaf lamina narrowly to broadly oblong up to 6 × 2 cm., obtuse at the apex but minutely mucronate, cuneate at base, glabrescent or thinly pubescent, particularly at the margins and on the nerves below; petiole up 10 mm. long. Flowers usually solitary; peduncle up to 3·5 cm. long; pedicels up to 6 mm. long. Sepals ovate up to 15 mm. long, acute, enlarging in fruit up to 23 mm. and becoming scarious and venose. Corolla white, about 2 cm. long. Capsule elongate-ovoid, glabrous. Seeds black, minutely pilose, with a tuft of brown hairs near the hilum.
