Xylotheca tettensis var. kirkii Oliv. Wild [family FLACOURTIACEAE], in Bol. Soc. Brot., Sér. 2, 32: 55 (1958). Type: Mozambique, Rovuma Bay, Kirk (K, holotype).
Information
Very like var. macrophylla but the vegetative parts are quite glabrous. The young parts are often noticeably glutinous with resin glands.
Habitat
Ecology similar to that of var. tettensis.

near Mombasa in Kenya
Notes
Kirk’s gathering from Rovuma Bay may be on the Tanganyika side of the Bay but this variety is almost certain to occur on both sides. No other Mozambique gatherings are known so far.
