Notes
Specimens cited by Garcia (in Bol. Soc. Brot., Sér. 2, 19: 509 (1945)) collected in Mozambique by Gomes e Sousa (Niassa: S. Antonio de Mecango, Gomes e Sousa 1641 (COI) and Torre (Niassa: Lichinga Plateau, Vila Cabral, Torre 34 (BM; COI)) seem to form a series intermediate between this species and C. scabiosifolia. The flowers, which are usually in threes, are much smaller than in C. uhehensis and the leaves, of which the upper pairs are usually simple, are distinctly petiolate. One of the three specimens constituting Lees 104 (K) has, in addition to simple leaves, two 3-foliolate leaves and longer petioles than in the other two specimens. This would seem to have some genes from C. scabiosifolia group D.
