Shrubby herb or soft-wooded shrub to 3 m tall; young stems winged, with appressed hairs at nodes (rarely along whole internode or glabrous). Leaves with petiole 1–4 cm long on larger leaves without or with a few long spreading hairs on edges; lamina ovate to elliptic, largest 6.5–15(–18.5)≈2.5–5(–7) cm, apex acuminate to cuspidate, base attenuate, with scattered hairs along midrib and veins beneath and with a few hairs on lamina above. Flowers in elongated racemes up to 16 cm long; peduncle up to 1.5 cm long, winged, glabrous or with sparse appressed hairs; internodes to 3.5 cm long, winged; bracts sometimes purplish; pedicels to 1 mm long; bracteoles linear to oblanceolate, 10–16 mm long, sometimes with apical part recurved, glabrous or with appressed hairs on midrib, with a few spreading hairs on edges near base, sometimes also with stalked capitate glands. Calyx 7–12 mm long, glabrous or sparsely sericeous along midrib, with short spreading hairs on margin, sometimes also with stalked capitate glands, lobes linear, subacute or obtuse. Corolla white with purple throat or with purple lines in throat, sparsely hairy in a narrow a dorsal band; tube below attachment of stamens 5–8 mm long, throat 13–20 mm long and 10–20 mm in diameter apically, lobes 4–7 mm long, acute or bifid at apex. Free part of filaments 7–10 and 10–13 mm long, only hairy at the very base; anthers 3–4 mm long; ventral stigma lobe ± 3 mm long. Capsule 13–14 mm long. Seed not seen.
