Shrubby perennial herb or shrub to 0.5(–1) m tall; young stems glabrous except often with long broad curly glossy hairs to 3 mm long near nodes. Leaves with petiole 0–10 mm long, with long broad curly glossy hairs to 3 mm long; lamina narrowly ovate to ovate or elliptic, largest 2.5–8.5≈0.6–2.2 cm, apex acute, base attenuate, decurrent on petiole, pubescent or sparsely so, densest along veins, margin distinctly ciliate. Flowers solitary or in 3-flowered axillary dichasia; pedicels 0.5–1.5 mm long, glabrous to puberulous; bracteoles (bracts in cymes) narrowly ovate to ovate, 10–20≈3–8 mm. Calyx 6–11 mm long, divided to 3–5 mm from base (i.e. normally about half way), with ciliate lobes, otherwise glabrous or with a few hairs along ribs; lobes triangular or narrowly so. Corolla falling early in the morning, pale mauve to purple, with darker lines in throat; tube 15–17 mm long of which the basal cylindric part 4–5 mm and the throat 11–12 mm long; lobes 8–11≈7–10 mm, ovate-elliptic or broadly so, with entire to crenate margin. Stamens included in throat, didynamous, anthers not overlapping; filaments fused for ± 0.5 mm at base, free parts 1–3 and 4–6 mm long; anthers ± 2 mm long. Ovary with sparse appressed hairs; ventral stigma lobe 1–1.5≈± 0.5 mm. Capsule narrowly oblanceolate, with appressed hairs, eventually glabrous, 17–22 mm long, 8–12-seeded. Mature seed not seen.
