Information
Leaves mostly narrowly lanceolate, 3.6–8.2 cm. long, 0.7–2.7 cm. wide, narrowly acute at the apex.

Notes
Carphalea pubescens (Klotzsch) Verdc. is widespread in S. tropical Africa and when compared with the majority of specimens of C. glaucescens is clearly distinguishable by the longer flowers and larger acuminate leaves with closer less arcuate venation. The S. Tanzania populations are however very much closer to C. pubescens than the material from Kenya particularly that from Mpwapwa District. Typical material of C. glaucescens subsp. angustifolia has the corolla-tube 1.5–1.8 cm. long, but Hornby 182! (Mpwapwa, 18 Feb. 1930) has it just over 3 cm. long. This specimen could equally well be referred to C. pubescens. See also after subsp. glaucescens.
