The University of Beyreuth Herbarium UBT is located within the Ecological-Botanical Garden of the University of Bayreuth. It was re-established in 2001 as the result of a merge of the herbarium of the Department of Biogeography, the Ecological-Botanical Garden, and the Chairs Collections for plant systematics and plant physiology. Since then, the Herbarium bears the official Acronym UBT, which referred only to the collection of biogeography before 2001.
