The association Tela Botanica animates the network of French speaking botanists, with three main objectives:
- bringing botanists together using exchange and communication tools (IT tools);
- supporting and carrying out collective projects
- sharing and spreading knowledge via internet.

Besides these main activities, Tela Botanica is involved since 2005 in the Global Plants Initiative. We work at digitizing MPU herbarium in Montpellier, in collaboration with the University Montpellier 2 (France). We also had the opportunity to support the Scientific Institute of Rabat getting involved as GPI partner, with two digitalization projects of the RAB herbarium that were supported by the Mellon foundation
