South African National Biodiversity Institute

The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) ranks among the world's foremost botanical institutes. Through its herbaria at three locations, collectively holding more than two million specimens, and eight national botanical gardens located in various parts of the country, the organization aims to promote, for the benefit of all South Africans, the sustainable use, conservation, appreciation, and enjoyment of the country's exceptionally rich plant life.
