Tree or shrub up to 10 m tall, glabrous; bark smooth, pale yellowish to grey, peeling off in small papery flakes. Leaves spiral on long-shoots or clustered at the tip of short-shoots, pinnately 3-foliolate or occasionally simple; leaflets narrowly to broadly ovate to almost round, 1.5–5.5(–8) x 1–5.5 cm, rounded to obtuse or acute at the apex, regularly serrate-dentate with teeth terminating in an up to c. 1 mm long arista; sheaths abruptly narrowed to the up to c. 5 cm long petiole. Flowers appearing before the leaves; umbels pedunculate, all male or with the central flower bisexual and the outer male; rays 4–9, 0.5–2 cm long; involucre of reflexed bracts 1.5–2 mm long; flowers c. 10–16 in each partial umbel, on up to 2(–3) mm long pedicels; involucel of c. 1 mm long bracteoles. Calyx-lobes c. 0.5 mm long. Petals probably cream, c. 1.5 mm long. Fruits flat, obovate, c. 11.5–12.5 x 8–9 mm, with 3 prominent dorsal ribs, the 2 outer narrowly winged, straw-coloured at maturity, emarginate at the apex; styles c. 0.8 mm long, divergent.
