Shrub or shrublet, 0.5–2(–3) m high. Leaves 10–25 cm long, with a sessile clavate or cylindrical, often somewhat pointed, gland near base of petiole; leaflets 4–10 pairs, lanceolate to narrowly ovate, 2–7 x 0.8–2(–2.5) cm, acute, glabrous except for ciliolate margins and sometimes a few scattered glands beneath. Racemes from upper axils, very short, almost umbellate; peduncles 8–25 mm long; bracts ± obtuse. Sepals obtuse. Petals yellow, obovate, 1–1.5 cm long. Stamens: 3 large, 4 medium-sized, 3 small. Pods linear, usually straight, 5–10.4 x 0.6–1.1 cm, not or tardily dehiscent, subglabrous, septate within. Seeds many, transversely arranged, grey-brown, ovate-circular, compressed, 4–4.5 x 3.5–4.5 mm, almost smooth and with an elliptic areole on each face.
