Information
Branchlets velvety pubescent. Leaves opposite to alternate; petiole 1–12 mm. long; lamina thinly coriaceous, green to grey-green, lanceolate to elliptic or ovate, 3–8 cm. long, 1–4.5 cm. wide, narrowed or slightly acuminate to acute or obtuse at the apex, cuneate at the base, pubescent on both surfaces, somewhat glabrescent, with 4–10 pairs of lateral nerves, the lower ones sometimes stronger and more ascending. Umbels 8–20-flowered, hairy; peduncle 1–3 mm. long; pedicels 1–5 mm. long; bract with a subulate limb (2–)3–8 mm. long, sometimes long-spurred. Receptacle obconic to urceolate, 1.5–2 mm. long; calyx 0.2 mm. long. Corolla 1.4–1.7 cm. long (before lobes inrolled), hairy; tube yellow, greenish or white, 4–5 mm. long, with 5 V-shaped flaps halfway down; lobes free in lower third, red, the upper joined parts grey outside and red inside, inrolled above. Filaments attached to coherent part of the lobes, short; anthers 1.5–2 mm. long. Style green; stigma capitate, 0.5–0.6 mm. across. Berry red, sometimes speckled white, obovoid, 7–8 mm. long, 5–6 mm. in diameter, glabrescent; seed orange. Fig. 6 (p. 24).
