A small, more or less scandent shrub; young branches slender, densely fulvo-tomentose, ultimately glabrescent and reddish-brown. Leaves oblong to oblong-lanceolate or obovate, acuminate, (acumen short or up to 3/4 in. long, narrow), obtuse at the base, 2–4 in. long, 1–1 3/4 in. broad, fulvo-tomen-tose in bud, soon glabrescent, with tufts of hairs in the nerve-axils; secondary nerves 5–7 on each side; veins faint; petiole tomentose, 2–3 lin. long. Panicle 1–6 in. long, 1 in. broad, usually linear or lanceolate in outline when more than 1 in. long, fulvo-tomentose all over; peduncle very short or up to 1 in. long; bracts subulate, small; pedicels up to 3 lin. long. Calyx 3/4 lin. long, tomentose. Corolla white, fragrant, almost subulate in bud; tube 1 1/4 lin. long, minutely puberulous without; lobes up to 2 lin. long. Follicles divaricate, lanceolate, acuminate, with the acute acumen slightly incurved, densely tomentose, 4 in. long.
