Information
Slender woody twiner to 10 m; young stems terete or quadrangular, tawny pubescent to sericeous or sparsely so, densest on two sides and here also with shorter curved hairs and sessile glands, glabrescent. Petiole 1–4.5 cm long, tawny pubescent to pilose or sericeous, densest apically; lamina elliptic to slightly obovate, largest 5–10≈3–6 cm, apex acute to acuminate, base truncate to cordate, above glabrous or with scattered long tawny hairs, pubescent along midrib, below denser and with long dense tawny hairs along midrib and major lateral veins. Flowers solitary or in 2–4-flowered axillary fascicles on young stems, often with additional non-developing buds; pedicels 1–2.5 cm long, quadrangular, widening apically, pilose with tawny hairs, densest apically; bracteoles white or flushed mauve, ovate, 1.2–2.1≈0.8–1.2 cm, acute to acuminate, pilose with tawny hairs, with sessile glands on the inside. Calyx a glabrous undulate or slightly lobed rim 0.5–1 mm high. Disc slightly lobed, up to 1.5 mm high. Corolla white to mauve; tube ± 2 cm long, ± 2 mm in diameter at base and ± 6 mm at apex, glabrous, on the inside with a band of glandular hairs; limb slightly zygomorphic, lower lobes ± 5≈5 mm, upper ± 5≈7 mm. Stamens included in tube, anterior filaments ± 4 mm long, posterior ± 2 mm long; anthers ± 4 mm long, with tufts of hairs at base. Ovary ± 2 mm long, glabrous; style ± 2 cm long; stigma slightly 2-lobed. Drupe bright green, 7–11≈6–10 mm, obovoid, zygomorphic (produced to one side and angular apically), glabrous, hardly fleshy.
