Information
Succulent robust climber, up to 5 m long; stems grey-green or green, 4-angled with winged usually crinkly edges, constricted at the nodes, glabrous, the internodes (5–)10–17 x 1.5–7(–8) cm; tendrils 15–40 cm long, simple. Leaves glabrous, only present in young shoots; petiole 1–10 mm long; blade palmately lobed, up to 2 x 3.7 cm. Flowers in much-branched glabrous 3–10(–15) cm long inflorescences; peduncle 1–3.5 cm long; pedicels c. 3–7 mm long. Calyx 1–1.5 mm in diam., glabrous. Petals yellowish-green often flushed purplish, 2–2.5 mm long, glabrous. Fruits subglobose to ellipsoid, 9–14 x 6–10 mm, red or purple when ripe. Seed ovoid, c. 8 x 6 mm, smooth.
